May be not, considering it can make you itchy, irritable, and give you a headache! A new UK study claims that when coffee makes you tired, depressed and aggressive, and causes joint pains and migraine, you could well be the victim of ‘coffee rage’.
Clinical nutritionist Roocha Majmundar Mehta says, “Coffee contains caffeine which stimulates the brain when taken in small amounts, not more than twice a day. But it can also be addictive. When you don’t have it, you may feel down, and this can develop into a severe, irreversible situation. The study also suggests that with the increasing coffee culture, the problem is only going to grow, something collegian Akash Parmar does not agree with. “What’s coffee rage? Having coffee in a cafe with friends is relaxing,” he exclaims.
But, there are instances to support that coffee rage does exist. While Hollywood actor Hugh Grant is known to suffer from it, singer Robbie Williams even checked into a rehab when his habit reached 36 espressos a day. Recalling his own experience, make-up artist Cory Walia says, “I have lived in New York, so I know all about coffee rage. It especially happens in crowded and chaotic places like New York, and even Mumbai. Earlier, I used to drink a lot of coffee and felt tense. God knows what would have happened to me if, thankfully, I wouldn’t have stopped drinking it ten years ago. Ask actress Shweta Kawaatra if coffee builds-up anger and she replies, “No yaar. Coffee is a good excuse for people who have inherent anger. Instead of coffee, they should work at something else. I enjoy having coffee in a good ambience. Meanwhile, adman Prahlad Kakar lists out a significant reason to abstain from coffee. He reveals, “I prefer tea because I want to be a Peter Pan and remain young forever. Only tea can achieve that, and I’m a living proof of it. So what’s in your cuppa?
